All this and no mess

But what about the specialist lab resources that schools can offer?

Your kitchen cupboard and the local chemist offer a fine range too.

And armed with a print of Ellen Mchenry's Carbon Chemistry, it can only mean one thing. Low-density polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene happy time at the Chemistry Co-op.

A day that involves kids experimenting with acetone, alcohol, stabbing the gas hob with copper wire...

...and lots of running about and playing recycling games with extra biscuits.

Enjoyable. In our own time, under our own steam, and made all the better because the chemical experiments weren't happening in my house.

I have stains on my table that will never go away thanks to science experiments. Have you seen these products:

It's where I've decided to shop for Christmas this year, both mine and theirs.

Just as long as you're not blowing up the house, all is well.
