Stopped by snow

There are plenty of jobs I wouldn't like in this world. One is a call centre operator, receiving the 300-plus calls from passengers booked on the flight from Hong Kong to London. I bet all those passengers were hoping to reschedule their arrival in England before Christmas.

The other job I didn't like, not at all, was telling the gritlets that our flight was cancelled, and no, we won't be going tomorrow. Or the next day. Or the next. We might stagger through the door Christmas Eve, but part of me has now come to the gloomy conclusion that it would probably be better all round if we didn't.

Meanwhile, to cheer myself up, salvage something, find something positive, remember to say to Tiger, You might not have snow, but you have sunshine, here's a view from the roof.

And because it's denied me, I want to go back to England more than anything.

I thought of you when I saw the airports were all closing.

My kids were meant to be going to Scotland to see family but that's all off now as well.

Hope you make it back x

I had been wondering if you would make it. Will keep fingers crossed for you but have to say it really doesn't look good, there's a bit more than the usual sprinkle of snow ;-( I don't suppose choosing an different destination would provide adequate consolation either.

Oh no, what a pain - hope you make it back. There's still a week to go - miracles could happen.....

Yes, I was thinking of you too. It doesn't sound too good over that side of the country.
{{{hugs}}} to you all - if anyone can pull triumph from disaster, it's Grit and the Gritlets.

(Cardiff is open - lovely place!)

Oh no :( Fingers crossed that you find a flight somehow. I think you're wise to focus on the warmth and sunshine ... it's bluddy freezing here! x

'Tis better to be trapped in Hong Kong than sliding uncontrollably off the end of a runway in London

hi G! you are right. as the hours tick by and we hear news from the uk, the words 'doomed', 'pointless' and 'stupid' come readily to mind. time for plan b, i'd say. but who ever listened to the junior league team leader?!

thanks, casdok! whatever happens, wherever we are, the gritlets will recall this christmas. (the one mama curled up in the corner and wept.)
