Yes, they do wear knickers in Northumberland. Now shut up.

Today, frenzied preparation for the lovely week ahead, visiting the lovely borderlands, and the lovely slightly strange family.

Shark, Squirrel and Tiger, who are struggling to remember anything past Yorkshire, are packing the entire contents of house in one side of the car, while I unpack it on the other. I tell them two outfits only. We pass a Morrison's. We're staying next door to the Co-op. And the trading laws are exactly the same for Sainsbury's in Northumberland as they are for Buckinghamshire. If you forget to take knickers, socks, wellington boots and shovels, then guess what kiddos? We just buy what you need. Shopping is high on the list, anyhow, if only to revisit the Corbridge Larder.

On the other hand, I must take the brochures we use when visiting these parts. The ones bought in 1954, 1970 and 1962. For retreading the family steps, there is no need to buy a new guide when the old one will do.

I live quite near to Holy Island. I wear knickers; not sure about anyone else though.

Corbridge, Hexham, Lindisfarne - great memories.Visiting the family this weekend in Newcastle. Will remember my knickers as shopping won't be on the agenda and I'm certainly not wearing my mother's!

hello people, and thank you for your comments! i'm driven to catch up now, for the sake of therapy and my memory, even though i left my notes on aunty dee's kitchen worktop.

if you have sussed me out, aunty dee, then i apologise for everything.

(and we had fantastic weather for the week, which goes to show what connections can do, expat mum.)
