Divorce? Never.

Dig is taking advantage of this Easter holiday to scrutinise his diary. I have to listen to 'Sweden is on, Spain is on, Canada is maybe, Portugal is off, South Africa is off, India is maybe...'

This goes on all day, relentlessly. Chuck a lead brick in a reservoir and watch Grit's spirits sink. She imagines Dig chatting till 3am in a low-lit Scandinavian hotel bar and then places herself, entering the front room at midnight on another lonely no-help day. In her mind is running 'Heathrow is on, cardiac arrest is on, sex is off, the chippy is on, someone to complain to is off, caravan holiday in Skegness is maybe...'

Then Dig says, 'And what about a summer au pair?'

Grit thinks she might pick up her leaden spirit dead on the ground and throw it fatally in his direction.

Sounds like Dig leads quite the exotic life. Much more then us that's for sure! I get excited driving to the next town.

Hugs for Grit.

But why not, Grit? Obviously having a tall, blond, Scandinavian 22 year old male around the house could only be a good thing...

I was just going to point out last summers au pair trials but then I see potty mummys comment.

I think she's really on to something here.

Hi Grit

I can recommend a brilliant au-pair who we used. Swedish and all.

Now, now Grit. Jealousy is never an attractive feature in a lady.

Just swap. Will people really notice that it's you, and not him, talking about commas? If they do, will they say anything? You could write the whole experience up in a witty book.

Hope your aim is good! Then again--potty mummy did have a very good suggestion!

hi kelly jean! do you know, i feel just the same as you when i drive over to Mel's french... she lives in the town next to us, and it has such nice shops!

oh wow, potty mummy! of course! it's not dig who should be looking for an au pair! it should be me! thank you for this lightbulb moment!

indeed, brad, the thought of another Elizabeth Hurley or Sasha nearly did for me there.

hello trevor ... i now have a mail address where i can take delivery of interesting facts such as recommended au pairs ..

you are right again, motl. i must live up to expectations, not down to predictions.

i agree allie! and i have reached the age and lack of career where i can drop the bluff that i once read Ulysses past the first six words.

hi elizabeth! unfortunately dig can scarper very quick when he can see trouble coming.

Oh I am with Grit on this one...
adult company is off, more blogging is on, feeling a little nervous at night is on, good humour is off, having to put the dustbin out in a panic at midnight is on, worrying a serial killer lives in my basement is on...

Yuk.

oh yes, pig! the worry about the different ways a SAHM can die by stairs, refrigerators, rubbish bins ... this one has definitely kept me awake at night. and then there are the psychos, murderers and burglars!! Throwing Dig at them would of course see them off under normal circumstances.
