The twitgrit that twittwatted

This week I am given an arsekick, with a fillip in the boot, when I discover that grit's day has bizarrely climbed to an astonishing number 24 in the bestseller list of a tots100 index.

That is amazing to me. Especially since 75% of grit's day receives No Comment. And from six and a half regular readers! Some of whom have dubious motives, and you can bet I have regretted posting about naked men in Bali.

Anyway, you can find the impressive tots100 list here. It is a source for motherhood comfort. Even if they are mean with the gin.

But now it represents a problem. Maybe you can help me find a solution.

Sally, who knows what she is talking about, says in the preamble to the tots100, that for any further personal advancement, competitive edge, and supreme glory in the list, all for which Grit reads: PUT A HOME EDUCATION BLOG UP THERE, I must now do Twitter.

Bugger.

I did have a twitgrit twitter account. I spat twat on this and that. But I am ashamed to say I have not truly found my voice there.

You could say I am spoiled for choice about what daily crap to twit. I am surrounded by the teedeous and mundane. Nor does much of my existence make sense to me. It's therefore extremely unlikely that it will make any sense to anyone else, especially in under 140 characters.

But after the glory of this week, now I may relaunch the twattered out twitgrit, and make a resolution to begin again.

But please tell me. What should I twit? Please give me your opinion. Should it be...
  • home education (very boring)
  • bringing up triplets (niche market)
  • Dig (not here)
  • things the kids say (usually abusive / makes no sense)
  • real-time action from every room of the house (zzzzzzzzzz)
  • grit's confessionals (could be strange)
  • fields, outdoors, sniffing England's air (not in the cold)
  • none of the above (please spare us all)
  • all of the above (pointless, meaningless, random splatter, but hey, it's twitter)
  • other (make your own suggestion)
Please help the afflicted grit, who must drag her carcass into the 21st century, but don't ask her to do Facebook. Not yet. It is a step too far.

But if this is one of the 75% of posts to receive No Comment, then I will make something up and inflict it on you all. But I warn you. The twats that I twit will not be pretty and then you must suffer, knowing that clapped out old twats like me are all your fault.

Yeah, I'm there. I started personal, went political, and now it's mainly baby focussed funnily enough.

I'm on tots 100 too, but way down at 44. Seem to have climbed without blogging much recently, v odd.

Will follow you on twitter for whatever ramblings you share :)

All of the above, of course, otherwise it just wouldn't be right!

And I am official post commenter no. 7 - a new record? ;-)

Sometimes I don't comment, because after one of your brilliant posts, I can't think of anything to say that doesn't sound completely stupid. But the monitor is covered with tea stains from my constant splurts of laughter when reading.

Go ahead an twitter about whatever you want. I have a twitter account, but I never twit, yet have people follow me who must be very desperate indeed. Sorry, I will not twit back at you. I can't be bothered, but you're the greatest!

Ha ha! See there's lots more than 6 of us :-) I vote for all of the above.

My tweets are all over the place, some what I'm doing right now, random weirdness when QI is on and there's a #QIParty, lots of HE news and retweets and currently a fair old bit of foaming at the mouth politics. I look forward to the day when HE news becomes a rare beast again and I don't have to be so rabidly political, but I'm sure you know how that goes.

gee I dunno, haven't commented as never have anything useful to add apart from "yeah to that". um, twitter. I just joined, have no idea how it works. Perhaps if you join, I'll work it out. Living in dreams. Just read some quite dull stuff from friends so preferably no more of that required. Make it a joy! We're all in this suffering your born you die cycle, but we don't all have to Feel like it at every waking moment and in those dreams where are we really.

I think you should do Grits Confessions in a field with naked men from Bali.

(Also, not sure I like being called dubious, however accurate it may be:)

I just talk my usual rubbish, plus ill considered jokes about celebrities. Seems to work.

Quite frankly people, I am staggered. And nearly rendered speechless. ALL of it? Are you sure about that? From now you have only yourselves to blame. I shall do a month's experiment, for you to reconsider the options.

I'm one of your lurkers who loves your blog but never feels amusing enough to comment. Coming out of the (comment) closet to vote for twittering anything you want. I tried Twitter many months ago and couldn't stand it. I never understood the fascination. Now Facebook...that I love :)

Happy Tweeting!

Grit said...

hi moderate means! twitter, i can mentally cope with, just. but no, not facebook! (not yet, anyhow!)

Hey, congrats Grit on the huge climb! And very well-deserved. In answer to the 'what to tweet' question, I'd say 'all of the above'. It's at its best when those fleeting thoughts that cross your mind half a dozen times each day get written down and posted... Or is that just me? Whatever - welcome aboard!

Grit said...

thank you dotterel; i will probably drop back off the cliff edge next month.

I suppose Congratulations are in order, our little Grit family is all grown up! If you twittered, I would actually sign up for an account on my phone, link it to my text messages and pretend that I'm getting very important messages while at work. That would be awesome, but the burst of laughter and snickering may have folks wondering what's so damn important. Oh and for content it could also include what you are having for lunch.

Grit said...

rachel, you deserve a medal. i think i'm going to get the little grits to make you one.

Rachel M. said...

Oh Grit, you just made me laugh so hard I actually woke up. Was thinking about crawling back into bed. Hmmm still might.

Fioleta said...

All of the above. Though if you do, I'll have to get myself a twitter account.
