Because someone leaves the tap on

We home educators are spilling about like water. Who knows where we are?

Here we are one moment, sloshing around in a great big puddle. And Then! Gone! We might have dribbled down between the floorboards, or soaked away into the fields. We might be ANYWHERE.

You see? Who knows WHERE WE ARE TODAY? We might be in a swimming pool, or a museum, or gardens, or cinema, or workshop, or library, or high street. We might be in a felt making workshop at the Museum of St Albans! ANYWHERE.

But this is as good as HIDING. Clearly, we need to be regulated.

PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW WHERE WE ARE. People who I don't know need to know my children. What they are doing. What they have been thinking. What I have been teaching. I might teach them non-state aligned and non-state approved ideologies, like HOW TO MAKE FELT. Of course this sort of thing would never do.

This sort of freedom has to stop.

Unfortunately, water always finds a way through.

Darn it, Grit. I want to know how to make felt. How will I learn if you don't tell me anything about it?

Making felt is easy, my then 2 year old younger son made felt of my lovely wool blanket by switching the temperature gauge on the washing machine from 'wool' to 'boil'. No effort required at all....well apart from climbing over the stair gate used to block entry to the kitchen and then pretending you were just playing with the laundry basket and pegs. Also, as an added bonus he made a very cross Mummy!

But I digress, felting wool is great fun although I expect there are laws governing the correct thickness, texture and colour quality etc, I do hope you checked the regulations first Grit.

i cant believe you are so irresponsibly teaching these kids to mess around with felt. My god, don't you realize???!! I'm sure The Times online would have something to say about it. Felt is dangerous! Subversive! I'm sure we need to legislate something about it....

Thank you, Grit.

Water always finds a way through.

I need to remember that in these dark times.

life too - life always finds a way.. there's a tarmac drive way up by my old childhood home where daffodils come straight up through the tarmac each spring... despite resurfacing!

I'm all for being dafodils :) (very interesting etomology on that name by the way, as we discovered when Roo asked where it came from)

Oh no, we already did felt making at the local HE group, TWICE! We must be stopped!

an anti felt campain would make some great goverment slogan posters, in the style of those WWII ones - be like Dad keep Mum and all that...

hmmm - Felt is evil. Is your neighbour felting?! Guard your wool jumpers - anyone could be a felter...

Instead of the red under your bed, it's the felt under your bed!

Ho hum, I really need to get off the lap top and into the kitchen!
